Montessori Magic Friday: Baby-Ed Musical Pictures

I have been curating musical pictures that you can copy and frame to place in your Montessori Baby's environment. These are collected into three sets, according to the developmental stages of the infant.

From my exploration of the Montessori Infant and Toddler curriculum over the past year, I have been developing a "music-based curriculum" for families and caregivers to implement with their babies. During this exploration, one thing I discovered is that the ingredients for creating a Montessori environment for the Infant are not found in one convenient place. And, sometimes the resources are really difficult to find!

One thing I love about the Montessori Infant Curriculum is the wonderful way that it supports the developmental stages that are typical of the first year of life. Once again, Dr. Montessori, in her scientific observational manner, diligently studied the child's development from conception!

WHAT IS MONTESSORI BABY EDUCATION

You can learn more about what I have discovered about the Montessori Infant Curriculum at my Magical Movement Company Blog, "Montessori Baby-Ed" CLICK HERE

When I went on a search for books and pictures that show high contrast images that the Montessori Infant curriculum calls for, I had to really dig. You can read more about the child's vision development at this link, "Hugga Mind: Infant Brain Stimulation" CLICK HERE

So, I decided to create a collection for myself and for you!

MY COLLECTION OF IMAGES FOR THE FIRST YEAR OF MONTESSORI BABY-ED

I decided to feature musical instruments with these images so that Baby will have a subtle introduction to pictures of these instruments in a gradual progression that goes according to typical development in children.

SET 1

Set #1 is designed for the first months of the child's life and, they are high contrast and mostly black and white since researchers believe that newborns don't see colors.

SET 2 and 3

Set #2 has pictures that are a single subject, to isolate the concept. This is a hallmark principle of Montessori education for all ages.

In Set #3, I included realistic photos of people, especially children, playing some of the orchestral instruments that were pictured in Set #1 and #2.

ORCHESTRAL INSTRUMENTS

Also, I included one or two orchestral instruments from the four families of the Orchestra:

~ Brass ( I included Trumpet and Trombone)

~ Strings (I included Bass, Cello, and Violin)

~ Woodwinds (I included Clarinet and Saxophone)

~ Percussion (I included Piano and Drum Set)
