Can a simple forum really replace Facebook?

Edited: Feb 28, 2018

Welcome! I am so happy that you are reading this Magical Movement Company Forum.

The reason I created this discussion format is because I feel so disheartened by some of the social media platforms who have recently been discovered to have supported divisive groups on social media and have actually been fraudulently posing as humans when they were actually robots or even "trolls.

I've been looking for a way to cut down on FB and to support other more ethically responsible discussion platforms. Actually, here is where I am creating my own little boycott of FB because I think the FB crew has not behaved responsibly and they need to behave responsibly!

Basically, I want to post, read, and share ideas about Children, Babies, Family, Education, Everything Montessori, Music, Outdoor Classroom and The Arts. And, I want to feel good about supporting a platform for this discussion. This is a Wix Forum that I set up with my website maker and I think these types of discussion platforms are the wave of the future.

So, I'll begin by introducing myself and I invite each of you tell us about yourself, too if you would like. No pressure!

You probaby know a little about me already...but did you know that I am not a robot, even though I do love dancing like a robot and the little kids in my music classes do too! I'm Carolyn and I have been a Montessori educator since 1980! These days I am a Music Specialist and I teach in 25 Montessori classrooms throughout the San Fancisco Bay Area. (that's more than 600 little children in a week!)

I would love to hear about your groups, what your children are like, and any topics you might enjoy discussing. Please use GRACE and COURTESY here...that lovely Montessori approach to social interactions.

Feel free to create a new post, share photos, and join in or comment on discussions that happen here. The way to post on this forum is to sign in. You can even sign in with your FB account. Then you can do just about all the same things you can do on FB: post, comment, and even SHARE! (you'll see the social media icons where you can share these articles at the bottom of these Forum posts. Although, I guess, when you share to FB, it sort of cancels out my little "boycott!" However, maybe eventually, we will get in the habit of these more personal (and hopefully more responsible) FORUMS ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB, and we won't even think about FB anymore...

What do you think about the current ETHICAL PRACTICES OF FACEBOOK, Twitter, and Instagram? I invite you to leave a comment and join the discussion.

For now, I hope you have a musical day!

This Blog post gives you a lovely lesson using the Montessori 3-Period Lesson with your Preschoolers in music class. I have been so pleased with the skills that the children in my Montessori music classes have been developing over the past few months! An organized early childhood music curriculum makes all the difference.

We, in the Montessori cyber world, are so lucky to have this fabulous bargain from Living Montessori Now. John Bowman has been a leader in the Montessori world for many years and this new edition of a very useful eBook is absolutely worth it. You can even download a substantial free sample to get you oriented to the wonderful variety of activities, as well as Montessori rationale, that John invites you to explore with your groups! What a deal!
